About Us
Eric Wahlberg, founder of Inner Mountain Rifle Stocks, began producing custom rifle stocks in 2005 for himself and close relationships. From these roots, Inner Mountain Rifle Stocks has grown its reputation as a high quality custom stock maker, producing truly one-of-a-kind rifle stocks from the finest English, French, Bastogne and California Black Walnut. Very early on, Eric realized a rifle stock’s beauty, function and stability all depend on a quality blank which commands a premium price and must be aged and equalized for a minimum of 3 years. Eric now slabs, lays out, cuts, dates and air dries all of Inner Mountain’s blanks, so he can be sure of age and stability.
Influences
Eric’s sphere of influence comes directly from the American Custom Gunmakers Guild and its world class artist members. Under the tutelage of Al Ward (master stock maker and regular member) Eric has honed his craft. Creating stocks directly from the blank or rough cutting on a pantograph is a true passion and it shows. From the flawless inletting all the way to museum quality oil finish and unique checkering patterns, every rifle, once complete, is accuracy tested to the highest possible standard before delivery. All this combines for a truly beautiful, hand-built and usable rifle that actually shoots.
